　　所謂"食"就是指一個天體被另一個天體或其黑影全部或部分掩遮的天文景象。日食主要有日全食、日偏食及日環(huán)食三種。日食發(fā)生的原理是地球上的局部地區(qū)被月影所遮蓋而造成的。日食必發(fā)生在朔日，即農歷的初一(朔)。這是因為只有在那一天，月亮才會出現在太陽與地球之間的連線上，這樣才有可能使月球擋住太陽而形成日食。同樣地，月食一定出現在望日，即農歷十五。

　　大家可能會問，為什么不是每個月的初一都會有日食，還有，為什么不是每個月的十五都會有月食呢？這是因為除了上面的條件外，影響日食和月食出現的還有其他一些因素。我們把地球圍繞太陽公轉的軌道稱為黃道，把月球圍繞地球公轉的軌道稱為白道。黃道平面與白道平面不是相同的，它們之間平均有5°09′的夾角，并且隨時發(fā)生變化。只有當月球運行到黃道和白道的升交點和降交點附近時，才會發(fā)生日食。

　　Youmightask,whyisnotthefirstdayofeachmonthwillbeasolareclipse,whynotthe15thofeachmonthwillbeapenumbraleclipse?Thisisbecauseinadditiontotheaboveconditions,theimpactofthesolareclipseandtheeclipsethereareotherfactors.WetheEartharoundthesuntothetrackknownastheecliptic,themoonaroundtheEarthtothetrackknownastheWhiteRoad.Eclipticplaneandwhiteplane,notthesame,amongthemanaverageof5°09'angle,andalwayschanging.Onlywhenthemoontorun,andyelloworwhiteRoadintersectionneartheintersectionanddownonlywhenasolareclipse。
